How to Unban Someone on Discord

Discord is a widely used digital distribution platform that lets its users communicate via VoIP and instant messages.

Following certain rules are necessary for every Discord user to maintain the decorum of the groups. The server moderators of Discord can permanently ban a person if they fail to comply with the rules. A server owner can also ban a group member if the person is involved in spamming or trolling.

However, in case a group member gets banned accidentally, then the group or server administrator might need ideas to unban that person on Discord.

If you want to unban someone on Discord you have to be the server administrator or owner. Otherwise, you will not have access to perform such tasks.

Let’s go through the step-by-step guide on how to unban someone on Discord.

Step 1: Select the Server from which the person was previously banned from

First, you need to select the particular server from where the person has been banned from.  For this open Discord and click on the server where the person is banned.

Then, beside the server name, click on the downward-pointed arrow to open a new menu.

Step 2: Click on “Server Settings”

From the menu, Find and click on the “server settings” option to open the “settings” window.

Step 3: Click “Bans”

Scroll down to the bottom-left corner of the screen to find “Bans”. Click on it.

Step 4: Select the Person That You want to Unban

Once clicking “Bans”, you will find all the names of Discord users that have been previously banned from the server. Select the person whom you want to unban. If the banned member list seems long, then you can also search using the name of the banned person in the search bar.

Step 5: Revoke Ban

Once you select the name of the person you will get a reminder that will display the reason for blocking that person. Click “Revoke” to unban him.

Keep in mind that a banned person cannot join the server automatically even after revoking the ban if there is no invitation for him to join the same server. That’s why you have to send an invitation to that person.

Conclusion

Now, you, as a server administrator, are aware of the ways to unban someone on Discord. If you are only a group member, you can request the server owner to unban someone from the same server.
A server administrator can again ban the same person if the member violates the group rules once again.

As Discord bans are IP-based, if an unbanned member creates another account with the same IP address, he/she still cannot use the same server.
